What is a chemical peel?

Dr. Abu-Zeitoon performs a chemical peel by using a chemical solution to exfoliate the surface layers of your skin.

The chemical solution creates a controlled wound that causes old, dry, dead skin cells to peel away. The result is fresher, younger-looking skin and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, sun damage, and other blemishes.

What happens during a chemical peel?

During your chemical face peel, Dr. Abu-Zeitoon cleanses your face and then applies the chemical solution. Some peels remain on your skin for only a few minutes, while others remain on the skin up to four to six hours. The solution is later washed off in the comfort of your own home. You may experience a stinging sensation during the treatment which is eased with the use of cool air.
